and special Guests, Sat 8th October StS |
21 year old Classical Reflection identical twins Naomi and Hannah have stunned audiences throughout the UK with their magical, moving and mesmerizing voices. Their close connection off stage allows them to create a very special sound which is as unique as their looks. As the girls point out "We believe our close connection as twins enables us to harmonise with one another in a way that's different to other duets, it's like singing with yourself" Loveday Singers is a group of young adults who started singing together with their conductor, Anna Loveday. The choir fluctuated in size with a change of personnel for the first few years, as people left to go to university. Over the last couple of years the average age of the members being slightly older has meant that Loveday Singers has started to become a more stable choir. |

![]() Celtic Singer and Harpist Siobhan Owen and the Octavian Singers Sat 17th September at StS |
Adelaide based singer/harpist Siobhan Owen was born in Wales in the small town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, to a Welsh father and Irish mother. A classically trained singer from the age of 9, Siobhan took up harp in 2008 after being invited by French singer/harpist Cecile Corbel (who she met on Myspace) to sing at her Adelaide Fringe Festival show. Siobhan was so inspired by Cecile’s accompaniment of her singing, that she decided she needed to learn this instrument herself! In 2010 Siobhan presented her own Adelaide Fringe Festival show "Celestial Echoes" to great acclaim. Siobhan is a multi-award winning performer and has produced 4 indie albums. The latest, "Storybook Journey", receives airplay on radio stations worldwide. Established in 1987, the Octavian Singers have gained a justifiable reputation for achieving high musical standards and producing ambitious and popular musical events in Woking, Surrey and the surrounding areas. |

Sue and Mike helping to set out the round tables in "cafe" style ready for the Academix a cappella concert. This was a first time for this table layout, made possible by the removal of the pews and using the new chairs (all of them) on the new flooring. | ![]() |

Academix are a contemporary a cappella band based in Woking, bringing close harmony pop and jazz to Surrey. Starting with the tradition of The Swingle Singers, they add the movement, smooth grooves, and unique arranging style that has been so successful with TV shows like Glee and the 2012 hit movie Pitch Perfect. Their sets range from the Beatles to Beyonce and from Lady Madonna to Madonna. The band was founded in 2014 by Jonathan (tenor and VP), who grew up with Anita (sop), married Cate (mezzo) and met Cat (alto) while singing with the Mosaic chamber choir. Neil (bass) … well, we got him off the internet. |

?... QUIZ NIGHT...? Saturday 24th January 2015 - 7.30pm What a great start to the year's events! We drove away those dreary January blues with a lively evening of topical questions and answers hosted by James and his wife Dawn who also run quiz nights for groups in Kent. Families and friends of all ages gathered to make up teams of 6-8, did some headscratching and had fun. Questions ranged from Geographical, Great Britain, Transport, a Picture round, General Knowledge, a Magical Music round (through individual battery powered speakers on each table) and a fiendish Film round (James' favourite topic). We were also reminded that Libby Lane was due to be consecrated as the first woman Bishop on Monday 26th January. |
