Our Setting:
Pre-School at St Saviours is situated in a church hall in the centre of a village community. Our nearest school is Brookwood County Primary and we are situated, just a short distance from Pirbright, Knaphill and St. John's, Woking. All staff at the Pre-School appreciates that young children need a happy and secure environment to thrive in and strive to achieve this by creating a homely and welcoming atmosphere
Our Pre-School offers education and care for children below school age and over the age of two years.
Our Aim is:
* To enhance the development and education of children under statutory school age in a parent-involving community-based group.
* To provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment.
* To work within a framework which ensures equality of opportunity for all children and families.
We offer your child:
* A specially tailored curriculum leading to approved learning outcomes.
* Individual care and attention made possible by a high ratio of adults to children.
* Fun and friendship with other children and adults.
* The support of a personal key person.
* Opportunities for you and your family to be directly involved in the activities of the group and in your own child's progress.
Our Pre-School has two sessional times:

3-4 Year Old Children (Funded Children)
In the term after your child’s 3rd birthday they are entitled to Early Years Free Entitlement for 15 hours per week, for 38 weeks. We open for 37 weeks a year for 3 hours per day which includes the children eating their packed lunch brought in from home. This gives the children an excellent opportunity to practice their social skills, increase their independence and get them ready for school. All sessions are subject to availability. If you would like further information regarding your free entitlement please visit www.surreycc.gov.uk/fis
2-3 Year Old Children
The 2-3 year old children are in Kittens (small hall). There is a maximum of 8 children with 2/3 members of staff; this is a high ratio of staff to children, giving the children the opportunity for maximum learning and high quality care.
The term after your child become 3 he/she will be funded by the Government for 15 hours per week; they will then move out to the main hall, this will be implemented to the nearest half term.
There is the opportunity for some Kittens to stay an extra half an hour and join the other children for lunch. This is subject to them being ready to take on this extra challenge which would be discussed between us and the child’s parent.
Ofsted
In December 2007 we undertook our second Ofsted Inspection, if you would like to read a copy please visit the Ofsted website at www.ofsted.gov.uk and click on ‘reports’. There is also a copy available for reading on our ‘information table’ in the main entrance hall of the setting.
Curriculum
During your child’s time with us they will be following the Early Years Foundation Stage, this runs between birth and five years. It is also the stage that they are in until the end of the Reception year at school.
Children do best when parents and professionals work together. As you know more about your child than anyone else we will be asking you about your child and sharing information with you. By doing this it will help you to notice how well they are developing and learning.
The EYFS is based on four Themes these are:
A Unique Child
Principle: Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
Positive Relationships
Principle: Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.
Enabling Environments
Principle: The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.
Leaning and Development
Principle: Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of Learning and Development are equally important and interconnected.
Key Person
Our key person system gives each member of staff particular responsibility for a small number of children giving each child one special adult that he or she is able to relate to. This can make settling into the group that much easier. The key person maintains links with the child's home life, working with parents through shared record keeping to ensure that all children are supported in reaching their full potential.
Training
We are constantly in touch with new thinking in the field of child education and care. We receive up to date information and practical advice. We also have access to a range of professionally produced publications. On-going training is always available through courses and informal training is available through local meetings and conferences.
Policies
All of our policies are designed to offer the best possible experience for the children and families within the group. These policies are reviewed on a regular basis and comments and suggestions from parents are always welcome.
Management and Administration
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
